Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will gain 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost rises with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, armor, and weapons in order to provide them with a boost in stats or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors, trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can only be applied to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and Enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment that is ascended or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
upgrade item or suffix can be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase an item's Mark Level, or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense properties of a weapon, or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated the Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be made at the Portative Forging Station. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or by purchasing them in the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be revealed during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to keep upgrading their gear even if they're not sure of how much they'll improve following a subsequent reset.
The process of upgrading an item could be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break in the event that the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when an upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items to increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that provide the benefit of being reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to upgrade the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs can boost the performance of nodes within a radius, including any pre-existing attaches. Glyphs can be upgraded in many ways, and we suggest upgrading them to 15 levels whenever you can.
It is commonplace to see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best way to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded straight to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you select it from your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph that is the same or higher rank to boost the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase, with certain unlimited-use tools, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt can drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs, you will have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a bonus that will boost a specific set of stat nodes in a radius surrounding the Glyph. Based on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.
Glyphs will increase the number of nodes connected to them, therefore it is recommended to place Glyphs in the most important spots on the Graph. This will increase the impact. For example, a Druid should try to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to boost the stats of specific items by introducing upgraded components. This is known as "upping". item upgrades is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items may be leveled up to a maximum level of 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components to be reached and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns several Technology Points. These points can be used for upgrading an item. When enough points have been earned you will be able to claim your upgrade and get its extra bonuses.
When an item is upgraded by a player it is replaced with a different item of the same type. This means that the same armor piece will get a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have its own set bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could increase in price even if you don't need it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be exchanged for a brand new one, which will have a level 1 base and a different set of extra bonuses. This is a good idea but it should not be used frequently as it could waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times, increasing their value and allowing the player to customize their equipment. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an advantage when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or swims like a dolphin). The item can be upgraded multiple times and increases the maximum roll each time by 10 increments. This item is highly useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth as much as 50x the value of the non-upgraded version.
Requirements
The upgrader for items lets players increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor, weapons, and trinkets) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase its base defense and weapon upgrades items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each when you upgrade an item, it is given the chance to fail. The rate of failure increases as you exceed the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to go to its initial state, requiring the player to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not able to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally, the item will lose any bonus it earned such as crit chance and attack damage, as well as any other effects that are associated with that effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that when a weapon is upgraded, if it increases its crit chance, the increase will be applied before any damage to attack increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is calculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item are determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade--for instance, a typical equipment item could have five upgrades, each costing 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Opportunity. Hero quality items are less expensive per upgrade.
Premium items might have different upgrade requirements than standard gear. For example they might require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons. Players will still have to take every piece of equipment they wish to upgrade to the NPC [ArmorBoboko. Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment will require different amounts of ingredients needed to upgrade, in addition to the costs mentioned above.
